The Thrills - 'Don't Steal Our Sun'

Amidst the haggard landscape and waning light of Autumn, The Thrills, Ireland's biggest export since Guinness, release a small slice of Summer appropriately titled 'Don't Steal Our Sun'.

Resurrecting that golden sound of 1970's California, The Beach boys, and the Byrds, the twang of country and western forms an inviting twist. Launched by catchy ivory slamming and joined by a thrusting drumbeat that propels the song forward, of course, the signature harmonies and softly spoken vox are still present, but the sudden meanderings of a guitar-line straight from the heart of Nashville are not quite so expected - yet prove utterly irresistible, as shiny and brassy as the glare from Dolly Parton's platinum locks.

So, another melodic gem from the Irish charmers. When the dredges of grey skies and brown leaves reminiscent of 'California Dreaming' become gloomy, thank heaven for small thrills such as these.
