The Upper Room - 'Black & White'

Ah, modern-influence, you've got so much to answer for...

Firsstlyy, Brighton newcomers, The Upper Room. Providing their debut, two-song unveiling, quite how and where The Smiths, U2 and The Strokes manage to collide into a near-perfect eight minutes remains a puzzling head-scratch.

Yet, 'Black & White' is a sweeping, chiming and melodious declaration of self-discovery and warming, classic indie-pop, complete with haunting choral-harmonies, whilst clincher-tune #2 'All Over This Town' is a winning dose of keyboards and husky, inviting vocals; emotive, earnest and extremely promising. Just what you'd want from the next Possibly Landmark British Band.
