The Vines - 'Homesick' (Heavenly)
4/5
By: Toby L

With beyond a million sales of a debut-album comes the compulsory, accompanying 'sell-as-many-as-you-can' marketing-exercise.
Thus, EMI offer us up a fourth Vines single from a record - 'Highly Evolved' - that everyone probably already owns five copies of by now. From it is lifted an edit of the really rather sleepy Beatles-y number that charmed us months ago (the lilting dreaminess of 'Homesick'), the pulse-racing MTV-breakthrough ('Get Free') and an even more direct Lennon/McCartney homage (a faithfully executed rendition of 'I'm Only Sleeping', as originally featured on the 'I Am Sam' movie-soundtrack).
Also donning the title-track's cut 'n' paste video when slipped into your CD-ROM drive, and as housed in a strictly-limited, numbered slipcase, yes: once again, we're helpless sell-outs to a corporate conglomerate. In other words? We'll all hurriedly flee from our homes in droves to purchase a copy.
