Wilt - 'Take Me Home' (Mushroom)
3/5
By: Matt Tomiak

2002 looks like being a top year for intelligent, passionate guitar bands from this side of the Atlantic. What with veritable old-timers Idlewild looking to break into the big league with their new record, and sparkling new talent such as Hundred Reasons and Hell is For Heroes following in their tracks, UK-Emo is giving as good as its American counterpart.
Thus, Wilt, described by their wonderfully-named guitarist/vocalist Cormac Battle as 'the Emo REM', couldn't have chosen a better time to release their second LP, 'My Medicine'. This taster single, however, isn't truly indicative of Wilt's sound; instead, 'Take Me Home' is a more stripped down and gritty effort than the string-laden epics found on the album - but none the worse for that.
Wilt, then: a welcome addition to the ranks.
