Various Acts - 'Drive-Thru UK Invasion Tour 2004' (Sorepoint)

An American independent-label releases a limited-edition forty-five to support a fast-coming, UK-showcase tour of their 'leading representatives for 2004', promised to rock your floorboards within an inch of their lives - and what do you get? A lemon-curd, yellow vinyl, that's what!! By whiz - f**k the bands; the presentation earns douze pointe alone!
What a treat. But, we must open our minds past the trivial things and consider the matters at hand - namely, noise. One track as a representative of each band leaves little for compromise, but headliner Home Grown and newcomer The Early November lead our polls.
Home Grown - what bloody fertilizer were they using? 'I think you're hot, but I love you not!'... Hey, don't hold back, kids! It's the ethos of Green Day, clearly, but with added, orange-fuelled, Cal-I-for-ni-A pop-punk moments.
'The radio sucks'? Allister doesn't think so. In fact, so follows a perfectly joyful, pleasant number about... his radio. Mind-numbing, but nonetheless elated. The Early November, meanwhile, simmer away in a seemingly scrappier, Americanised version of Yorkshire based This Girl. Whereas Hidden In Plain View cry and groan away in a McCracken-esque manner, but with somehow more grace.
And, did we mention... the record's yellow!
