Longview - 'Still' (14th Floor)
2/5
By: Austin Louis Ray

Longview. Clearly, not just a Green Day song anymore.
Rather, many people around the world may soon associate the word with a little group of Manchesterites that want to lovelorningly warble their way into your heart. 'Still', the third single from the group's critically praised debut from just last year, is your typical sappy-on-rye song about how, though times are bad, the good ones are right around the corner. Strings soar, the vocals sound uncannily like that of another group who shall remain nameless ('...and it was all yellow...'), and it all rounds out at about three and a half minutes.
Naturally, though not revolutionary at all, the track does have the word 'hit' written all over it in large, bubble letters - the kind sweethearts would use in whimsical love-notes to each other. The boys in Longview might just know what the future holds. As the song ends and the phrase 'good times are coming' is repeated, one can't help but think those words are talking more about the future of this band than anything else.
