Kings Of Leon - 'California Waiting' (Hand Me Down)

4/5

By: Samantha Hall

Kings Of Leon - 'California Waiting'Their fourth single off debut album 'Youth & Young Manhood', the US quartet's latest is the last in a long line of successes for the Pentecostal, follicle-y disturbed gang. With a sell-out UK tour, fistful of awards and cover exposés to brunt, Kings of Leon won't be going away any time soon.

And 'California Waiting' is actually the farthest cry from their signature 'crackly antique wood' sound to date. Don't worry, the southern drawl's still there, supporting their Redneck blues twang nicely. But 'CW' follows through with a surprising, revitalising 'crusty road-trip' edge; although maintaining upbeat with the potential to be highly over-playable. Better than a raccoon stew, we'd say.
