Your correspondent would never claim to be the biggest heavy metal aficionado but Soil go about their endeavours with an almost Spinal Tap-esque, OTT zeal.
They're also blissfully unselfconscious; in describing the lyrics to their earthy rock as 'like our children' within their biog, they evoke that great episode of 'The Simpsons' when the Red Hot Chili Peppers claimed the same thing in earnest to much mirth.
