The Bronx - 'They Will Kill Us All (Without Mercy)' (Wichita)

4/5

By: Toby L

The Bronx... Sorta

'... WHAT'S LEFT OF MY BROKEN HEART...'

And, f**k, we thought that A-side title was a marker enough.

LA's The Bronx make on-the-brink punk-rock with enough furious Hives-on-poppers hooks and merciful discord to molest eardrums into a new state of throbbing ruin; Black Flag, Fugazi, underpinned with a mildly tuneful panache that even the purist mohawks would nod a knowing flow of gelled-up follicles to.

By the time you hit the b-side, a live-bootleg of their cymbal-crushing anthem 'I Got Chills' (and pretty soon the listener has too), you're enticed, knackered and - most fantastically of all - still in awe.

Apologies for the overly ironic, accompanying image.
