The Darkness - 'Love Is Only A Feeling' (Must Destroy)
4/5

Aww, the fourth single to be released from the Sussexers' 1.5m-selling album 'Permission To Land': a template that made the entertaining and unabashed return to a rumping bygone age, when mullet-clad dinosaurs travelled the stadiums of the world; back before flannel-shirted grunge bands swept the universe with their overwrought earnestness, and spandex was generally declared law as a social no-no.
And this may be considered by some to be their weakest single release to date; by heck: a real love ballad? Surely not. Yet 'Love Is Only A Feeling' is even further justification and confirmation of The Darkness' integral and ultimately sincere musicianship. In itself... think... L-O-V-E; that celebrated and adorned word through which lives have been lost, lands have been conquered and existence created: to be shrouded and dismissed as 'only a feeling'. Don't think Kurt could've said it better if he tried. Who needs grumbly, bedsit 'acoustic surrealism' to be moved anyway?
