The Vaults - 'No Sleep No Need' (Red Flag / Lucky 7)
4/5
By: Matt Tomiak

AC/DC in their sleazy prime. The Datsuns' rollicking lack of pretension. The Ramones' infectious sense of fun.
All invoked across a breathless EP that proves The Darkness aren't the only band hailing from Suffolk breathing new life into old genres. The Vaults deal in pure, unashamed hard rock revivalism - 'I'm Leaving' gleefully reworks ex-Rancid man Lars Frederiksen's grappling original (once released under his 'The Bastards' guise). No less a man than Homer Simpson once remarked that it was a scientific fact that rock attained perfection in 1974: a statement with which The Vaults would appear to agree entirely.
