D12 - 'My Band'

Five years have passed since 'My Name Is' introduced the world to Eminem, the most controversial musical figure in recent history. Brutal, unapologetic and resoundingly non-PC, the man who likes to call himself Slim Shady sure did cause a stir. We needn't go into all that now.

More pertinently, are people still interested in the man or his 'crew' D12 in 2004? Maybe there are confidence-issues at stake (he's insisting that his position within D12 remains 'the leader singer of my band'; OK, it's irony, but still...), yet brash or not, Em just don't seem all that shocking any more.

'My Band' - utilising the slinky sax-esque hook present on D12's 'Purple Hills' and Em's own 'Without Me' - chronicles the inter-group tensions and rivalries caused by, amongst other things, female 'admirers' and whilst there's still touches of the old offensiveness and wit, whether or not Marshall Mathers can still retain the attention of the greater public at large now as he once did, remains to be seen.
