Kasabian - 'Club Foot' (BMG)

4/5

By: Lauren Gallagher

Kasabian - 'Club Foot'Kasabian's latest artwork clutches attention with its propagandist stance. 'Club Foot' is wrapped in a poster featuring repeated images of a masked man over 'Together We Build' stamped in capital letters, and 'JOIN NOW' in bright red. And after listening to 'Club Foot,' you garner a sneaking notion that Kasabian are calling upon the troops to follow them down their dark, gravelly rock road.

For they'll hook you in with their hypnotic intro and throbbing bass-parts, whilst Tom Meighan's vocals bear the snotty power and angst necessary to represent a true 'leader' - you can almost hear the spit hit the mic. A chanting chorus, meanwhile, has a fuzzy, filtered vitriol that evokes pissed-up crowds shouting in unison and marching along to Kasabian's primal rumble. Soon, triumphant synths soar over the incessant chorus to the bloody, bitter end, cinching their bewitching spell over the people.

All necessary proof: Kasabian may well command more than a cult following. Lace up your boots and start marching.
