The Fallout Trust - 'EP2' (At Large)
3/5
By: Clara Burtenshaw
This second, 4-track EP from The Fallout Trust musically reiterates just how they are creating some of the most accessible eclecticism in indie of the moment. Confidently saddling electronic funk, synths and guitars, their latest is an effortless fusion of cinematic and sampled surround-sound complete with a swish of strings and horns.
'We Will Wake Up' is a multi-tracked harmony and falsettoed wonder, unfortunately let down by its verging-on-dull successor, 'The Watchman'. However, an interesting idiomatic rearrangement of the abbreviation for musical television, 'TVM', sees The Fallout Trust in haunting Radiohead piano mode, the scene in which perhaps they triumph best. A taste of musical diversity at its most astute, they shan't fall out of favour with this.
