More from the drums-bashing Notts princess; again coupling with King Albini, 'Uptown Top Ranking' is an unabashed, desolate Brit-answer to Cat Power, all lonesome guitar and a winsome vocal-tone, as intimate as a private showcasing in your own living-room.
The drums and vox of 'Dare!', meanwhile, showcase Niblett's alter-ego as the playful pop-crumpet, with subtly multi-tracked, twinned vocal-assaults and rasps of 'Hey...' sharing space with a steady, static bass-drum, snare and hi-hat (the only time we hear so much as a floor-tom is track-three - 'In The Sine Wave', a minute, tribal call-to-arms, quietly disarming in its raw simplicity).
