The words 'four-piece band from LA' at once invoke images of shrieking, coarse rawk boys. But not in this case.
Meow Meow are a somewhat warped concoction of Gomez, The Beta Band and Spiritualized; bluesy slide guitars, summer harmonies, forlorn vocals and bursts of gargantuan sheer noise all competing for space. A pleasant surprise - especially for fans of the believed-to-be-defunct 'shoegazer' movement.
