No Hope In New Jersey - 'Narcolepsy' / 'Sober' (Infectious)

4/5

By: Toby L

No Hope In New Jersey - 'Sober...'No Hope In New Jersey, formerly The Marfa Lights, teem to foaming, frothing, head-splitting breaking-point on their exhaustively frantic debut blaring.

A double A-side bearing two tracks that both (almost) exact the 2 minute 20 mark, instantly, NHINJ belie their ridiculous 'pesky youngster' prejudice by throwing forth infectious, hurtling punk fury that'd surely make Dave Grohl soil himself.

Even the hallowed (or is that 'hollowed'?) words 'David Blaine' seem to be mentioned in opener 'Narcolepsy' (possibly) - a spasmodic mosh mess, if we ever did hear one - while the rascals prove they can muster the blinding, radio-sodomising chorus on a euphoria-drenched 'Sober'. Yes. Already, they're stellar.
