The Verra Cruz - 'Soul Collides EP' (Crazeltown)
2/5
By: Matt Tomiak
Chest-puffed-out nu-grunge, positively gleaming with shiny pro-production,
The Verra Cruz don't sound as if they'd be remarkably keen to advertise the
fact they're actually from St Albans.
The title-track is solid, commercial metal-by-numbers, but the 'Soul Collides' EP deflates via MTV-endorsed angst and clichι ('Air That I Breathe') and ponderous
'authenticity' ('Rise') that one can imagine being played over the closing credits to 'Dawson's Creek', or some such.
