The (International) Noise Conspiracy - 'Black Mask' (Burning Heart)

3/5

By: Samantha Hall

The (International) Noise Conspiracy - 'Black Mask'Despite their hallowed esteem, 'Black Mask' makes The (Intentional) Noise Conspiracy sound like a political, poppy flushed Swedish version of Jet. If these guys had been hurled to the devouring mainstream masses a mere couple of months prior to the formers' major success then we'd be hailing these guys as retro rock disco saviours. But we're not. For once, the Aussies got there first.

'Tis a shame, for The (International) Noise Conspiracy all do it somehow sexier, with more ease, and more to say. We guess they are Swedish, after all. And of course, being of European origin (rolls eyes... yeah, cos Britain of course isn't actually part of Europe), they have standards. Yes, morals, meaning behind the music. You can dance and ponder intellectually to their narrative recollections of social uprisings and cultural dilemmas. This isn't just about getting laid. We're even afforded beachy surfer backing girly 'ooo's and even a handclap 'breakdown': what a jolly, upbeat and downright slick soundtrack to accompany our battling against the dark terrorists and corrupting capitalists of our world today, eh?
