Mclusky - 'She Will Only Bring You Happiness' (Too Pure)

That Mclusky lot, eh. Yet, whereas previously such awry smirks would be set to the sound of guitars drilling their way into skulls, nations crumbling in the archness of it all, 'She Will...' is - alternatively - a summery, Pavement-esque chug-fest of chiming chords and commendable melodic stature. No, we didn't see it coming either.
Being Mclusky, though, they also spoil us with new material - second b-side 'Dave, Stop Killing Prostitutes', meanwhile, is a creeping mood-piece of distorted, spoken-word grumbles, not unlike a lo-fi Beck going through a particularly excruciating mid-life crisis. It's fair to say we f**king love this band.
