Scandinavia has recently been responsible for a musical rebirth that has seen the relentless energy and enthusiasm of the Hives, and the cult-quirk of the Soundtrack of Our Lives slam Sweden on the International Music map. Whether dazzling (Sigur Ros) or dire (Whyte Seeds, or Norway's Melody Club) the result is always 'interesting', and Mando Diao lie somewhere between the two.
Bearing the semblance of the Parkinsons and the sound of much of the punk riot rock kicking around London, Mando Diao triumph by adding a catchy chorus, and an even catchier riff. It must be something in the water.
