Easyworld - 'How Did It Ever Come To This?' (Jive)

Easyworld: frustratingly cute. Here, they've penned a happy slappy slice of something that comes off like sunshine and cider - occasionally a bit sickly, but it's sunny out (goddamnit!) and you're going to beam and headbob while you can.
Painted with a bit of melancholy, 'How Did It Ever Come To This?' is apparently songwriter Dav's take on how 'beautiful things like love, democracy, music and integrity are devalued by the powers that be.' Clever - chicks dig that style of sensitive bric-a-brac being lobbed about. And though it'd be relatively easy to dismiss it on that (or at least deliver it some kind of literary bitchslap), being all wrapped up in a catchy, cuddly little number makes it all go down so easily.
The flipside, 'Celebritykiller' hits a bum-note with its quasi-Placebo-in-a-tin-can-style vocals from the outset. Unfortunate. But we can overlook that. After all, they brought flowers and said nice things to us on the first track. Oooh, it makes you feel all mushy inside.
