Seafood - 'Sleepover' (Cooking Vinyl)
4/5

The latest Seafood album 'As The Cry Flows' has received rave reviews across the board. But none of you are buying it. Shame on you. If you had said album, you'd know that 'Sleepover' is a car journey by night; flickering lights and burnt retinas, conveying a humanity beyond the Post-Rock tankers Mogwai's wildest crash fantasies. Controlled and optimistic 'This is what the future holds.'
B-sides, are an acoustic version of 'Heat Walks Against Me', substituting perhaps the album's noisiest outburst for a genteel, almost baroque feeling, and the astounding 'Old Friend', maddeningly left off the record, perhaps for the simplicity of its post-folk drive; 'What's happened to you?' it asks, perhaps of the estranged guitarist's departure from the band, a less glamorous version of the Libertines' squabble; 'looking out for you, you asked me to write a song about you.' While it won't be front page news à la Pete/Carl, it will certainly endure through the ages.
