Wren - 'Drive Down Lines' (Melodic)
3/5
By: Tim Dellow
I found a shoebox under my bed last night. From the distant glitter of dying suns, I could just make out its contents. A four-track tape machine, or perhaps a Reel To Reel, entangled in a cleft of ivy, strangling out its lasts breath before assigning it to an eternity of broken circuits and rotting seaweed.
A small bird watched me. And with his beak he scratched onto vinyl, the dying clicks of this once powerful machine. He flew back to his nest and tweeted over it, before leaving this subtle backing track at the home of Kick Peill, aka Wren. He went inside with this treasure and added Pajo-esque guitar lines, and almost-heard mumblings to compliment the tape's decomposition. Earthy, natural, honest, and above all, human.
