Having produced a swath of affable-enough, slyly macabre matter, at last The Duke Spirit get it out. The tune. 'Cuts Across The Land' is a gospel-thumping, blues-rattle of insatiable sass and glam and, somehow in between, nihilistic, frenzied grit.
Fronted by the vibrant pout of Leila Moss, it's a charismatic waltz of thunderous esteem and knees-weakening aplomb - sultry, assured and just a little bit infectious... And, suddenly, that wait for a debut record of the stuff just became a touch tougher.
