Iain Archer - 'Summer Jets' (Bright Star)
3/5
By: Samantha Hall
'Summer Jets' is a wonderfully feel-good, sing-along throbbing guitar chump of a number. Iain Archer's third single from album 'Flood The Tanks' jogs along the pier with you - the idyllic soundtrack to paddling in ocean spray, eagerly licking Mr Whippy cones and chucking away your life's savings into those godforsaken 10p machines.
Yes, the jumping masses at festivals would savour in such delights as the late, warm July glow glinted off their oversized retro shades. It's simply perfect. Then, why release such a summer indie smash in late October; when the leaves are turning, thick woven scarves are being hauled out from the back of cupboard, and noses are getting red and sore? It's a toughie. Oh, Archer we feel your youthful Augustan dreams will be lost on a clique now absorbed with mulled wine and mauling each other at cosy indoor house parties. It's simply too chilly to frolic outdoors.
