Dizzee Rascal - 'Dream' (XL)
3/5
By: Matt Tomiak
A mixture of Dizzee's unaffected autobiographical ramblings, some motivational advice and bizarrely, a sample originally lifted from the soundtrack of 'South Pacific', 'Dream' is nothing if not original.
And strange as it seems, it's all really quite sweet. Still as quintessentially British as anything from the pen of Davies, Weller or any of the Britpop bards (opening lines: 'I used to dream about crazy little things like fame/In the days hanging outside the Off-License'), I'd certainly like to see more indie bands adopt DR's lyrical tactics and chronicle the history of their toilet-circuit tour experiences on record.
