'Don't call me a weirdo,' begs Stuffy, of, er, Stuffy & The Fuses. Yet for a man who plies an art in improv stand-up in between songs at gigs, drumming and singing lead-vox duties at the same time, as well as writing songs that sound like a bizarre mesh between the Pixies and, gulp, Bis, it's proving a tough proposition to obey his desires.
But 'Where's The Captain?' jerks and ricochets against our ears all too entrancingly; kerazee keyboards, pacing, Sonic Youth-y guitars, morbid backing vocals, et al. Like bulldozing innocent house-pets to a premature grave, enjoying Stuffy & The Fuses is probably not a very good thing, but is somehow enthralling for it.
