Inouk - 'Island' (Independiente)

2/5

By: Kevin Molloy

Yelp. It all starts out in a rather twee rock 'n' skiffle manner; a little reminiscent of the Allman Brothers playing Hank Marvin. The riff, meanwhile, comes straight from REM's 'Talk About The Passion', and leads meanderingly into something really rather predictable.

Inouk

Unique, perhaps not. It's all presented nicely enough, though - Inouk's guitars wander idly about melodically, and their rhythm-section has mastered a couple of speeds, meaning you don't get too bored. Then again, there's a grand total of two lyrics in this song (and you can't understand the second one), and Inouk - new as they are - aren't quite yet the kind of group who can get away with such repetition.
