The Earlies - 'Bring It Back Again' (679)
5/5
By: Kevin Molloy
It's a subtle genius The Earlies possess. The kind of genius you destroy by continually raving of it to all your friends, insisting they must indulge; they're going to love it, it's right up their street, it's the best thing they'll have heard all year. All these things are unequivocally true with regards to this lot, but hyperbole will destroy the beautifully subtle and the unassuming.
Their drifting melodies are irrepressibly infectious over a layered, symphonic backdrop of keys, six-strings, synths and all-sorts. Ten-thousand vocal harmonies make 'Bring It Back Again' an understated Polyphonic Spree, or an exorbitant Mercury Rev... one thing is for sure; the sun shines optimistically at every turn of the road in Early-land.
But, for now, don't believe a word anyone tells you, even us. Just remember the name, and strike out to discover them yourself. Yet please allow us one guess: the revelation will most probably be wondrous.
