Stereophonics - 'Dakota' (V2)
3/5
By: Matt Tomiak
It says much that perhaps the most considerable piece of praise that can be given to this record is that it doesn't sound like the Stereophonics. Or at least, it's a world away from their post-'Word Gets Around' incarnation as grim-faced advocates of lacklustre dad rock. Just look at that sexy, florid sleeve - what can it possibly mean?
And, cripes... the 'Phonics have gone electro-pop! Sprightly, breezy, sunny - the words which spring to mind when describing 'Dakota' aren't the ones you'd tend to think of first when describing this band as they have tended to be of late. We await the new LP with - get this - genuine interest.
