Kathryn Williams - 'Shop Window' (Caw)
3/5
By: Toby L
She's one of those niche, spoken-of types of artists whose name becomes synonymous with having won the honour of once headlining a discreet stage at Glastonbury (or, wearily, the Cambridge Folk Festival), or - indeed, correctly here - being a former Mercury Prize nominee.
But there's charm in Kathryn Williams that shouldn't be too easily overlooked. She's a warmly-throated lounger, whose effeminate crooning and restrained arrangements form a kindly, Brit answer to that most Norah of Jones'. 'Shop Window' is a far better way to pass three minutes than you'd think on first misconception.
