Before becoming broken-hearted, you've got to be seduced - and Camera Obscura make music that'd have Satan swooning.
'Lloyd, I'm Ready To Be Heartbroken' is the genuine classic pop song that Belle & Sebastian always hint at, but regard their intellectual capacities too highly to actually bother writing. Let it go lads - this stuff is gold. I was once told I only find someone attractive if they're slightly miserable with it, and this fits that diagnosis - it's as melancholic as they come. And in that way, it suggests depth, and I want to find out more about it. But the initial snare is that melody - something so cute, so uplifting, even I might stop being such a bloody cynic about everything.
That said, they probably will end up breaking our hearts at some point. The prettiest ones have a habit of doing so.
