The View - Wasted Little DJs (1965)

4/5

By: Keri Kennedy

The View - Wasted Little DJsSelf titled 'teenage Dundonian upstarts', The View deliver melodic guitar pop all about some what we can only presume are some mini-me versions of the Queens Of Noize - a 19-year-old DJ duo going by the name of Wasted Little DJ's - who they're on a promise of a free haircut from in return for writing a song about them.

With pounding drums and an opening riff learnt whilst studying hard at the Libertines comprehensive and a chorus Brendan Benson would kill for, The View are onto a winner with this sure-fire summer hit. Look at the ingredients - produced by Owen Morris of 'Definitely Maybe' fame and released on ex-Rough Trade A&R James Endeacott's fledgling 1965 label, there's a feeling of history repeating itself here; that Libertines sound, DJ 'groupies', Rough Trade connections... it all suggests we'll be admiring The View a lot this summer.
