The Charlatans' oft repeated assertion that 'there's no need to stop' is really the problem with this single - for sad as it is to lay this on the line, it's been common knowledge now that the Mancunian five piece's best days are behind them. For the sake of their legacy, there was a need to stop a while ago.
'N.Y.C. (There's No Need To Stop' isn't the most repulsive of songs, it's just amongst the most dull, it being precisely what you'd expect from a recent Charlatans single - not a lot, all told. Half hearted attempts at funk and forced good time vibes don't suit them. Not any more.
Forget you heard anything since 'Tellin' Stories'. Remember them that way.
