The Horrors - Death at The Chapel / Sheena Is A Parasite (Loog)
4/5
By: Andy Willson
There are several ways to make an impact in this business, and Southend's The Horrors have taken some pointers from the best. Get your first video proper banned (Chris Cunningham directed "Sheena is a Parasite" which features Samantha Morton flashing between a human and a squid) and secondly make a racket capable of waking the dead. People will notice.
Though it opens like a Status Quo number, you're soon forgiven for making that association when the keyboard and Faris Badwan's screeching vocals kick in on 'Death at the Chapel'. You don't need to understand the words, only comprehend that this will drag you across the dancefloor by the short & curlies and make you fight with the biggest bloke nearest you. 'Sheena is a Parasite' continues in the same vein - a kicking drumbeat and more shouty vocals.
They've got the hair (oh good lord do they have the hair!) and the style, and after causing a near riot at the 100 Club recently, The Horrors will likely be unavoidable for the rest of '06. However, finding an image of the cover was impossible. Instead, we offer you this apt picture of a parasite. Mingin', innit?
