Archie Bronson Outfit - Cherry Lips (Domino)

To all those who don't know, the Archie Bronson Outfit specialise in rock n' roll so dirty that a shower and a clean pair of underpants are needed afterwards. Like their label mates The Kills, ABO seem interested in creating music that speaks with a real and gritty intensity, the sonic result of those who've genuinely not slept for three days.
Shooting from the musically virile loins of Domino records, Cherry Lips is taken from their second record, 'Derang Derang'. From the opening guttural riff it is clear that ABO are at the opposite end of the spectrum to the pre pubescent pimpled pretensions of bands like The Kooks; here are real men with real beards rocking out. The song develops rather satisfyingly (if predictably) to a blues induced climax complete with screaming guitars and wonderfully dirty vocals which would provide a perfect accompaniment for that 3am cider .
Simply put, this is rock n' roll of exquisite purity, so much so that if it were available in powder form, would have a street value of around £60 a gram.
