Dan Sartain - Replacement Man (One Little Indian)
2/5
By: JJ Florio
Dan Sartain is cool. Young, good looking and positively dripping in the career lubricant of critical acclaim, he's cool. He has a cool James Dean (not Bradfield) style quiff and he was in NME's cool list last year. I mean for f**k's sake, he's even toured with the Kooks and it just doesn't get any cooler than that...
It's only when actually hearing the single 'Replacement Man' that cracks start to appear in the (painfully) cool picture that the accompanying press release has so delicately painted. Firstly, Dan Sartain, no matter how talented, is definitely not 'a genius' and this is not the work of a 'post-punk Jonny Cash.' What this is, is perfectly acceptable, yet mind-numbly unoriginal 50's rockabilly. Nothing more. That's it.
If you're not too concerned with how your music actually sounds, and care more for how it looks in Dazed and Confused, then this friends, is for you.
