Love Is All - Make Out Fall Out Make Up (Parlophone)

4/5

By: Gareth Roberts

Love Is All - Make Out Fall Out Make UpTaken from one of the debut albums of the year, Love Is All's second single proper is another Scandinavian export you'll be happy to have in your home. The curious thing about this band is that they simultaneously give the impression that they don't give a shit whilst at the same time exuding an air of passion which emanates throughout their songs which can only signal that it means absolutely everything.

It's as if they turn up at the studio, spend 10 minutes writing a tune, whack it out in one take, and voila, they've somehow managed to produce a prime cut of pop excellence. 'Make Out Fall Out Make Up' articulates the ins and outs of the perils of romance in way that sounds original and charming, a rare talent I'm sure you'll agree.

Sounding like it's held together by safety pins, you're always half expecting it to fall to pieces at any minute, but somehow it holds itself together. The bass throbs, the drums propel, the sax drives the whole thing, and Josephine's charmingly amateur vocal just compliments what is simply a bloody good tune. I'd go as far to say it's probably impossible to listen to Love Is All without developing some sort of affection for them - go on, I dare you.
