Rose Kemp - Violence (Park)
3/5
By: Gareth Roberts
Not to be confused with the baldy fella who played Grant Mitchell, Rose Kemp is a far more refined and generally more appealing proposition, or at least she is on the surface.
'Violence' lulls you into a false sense of security with its beautifully melodic opening before bursting into action with a riff so devastatingly, err, violent, that the ground at the nearest cemetery is almost certainly stirring as the deceased are rudely awoken.
'Morning Music' is more atmospheric, a building drum beat and Kemp's endearingly concerned voice intertwined with violins. 'Tiny Flower' completes proceedings sounding not too unlike a combination of Joan as Police Woman and Bat for Lashes, all in all a strong effort, on which Kemp has done more than enough here to deserve being mentioned in the same breath as the above. Definitely one to keep an eye on.
