Ripchord - Lock Up Your Daughters (1965)

4/5

By: Gareth Roberts

Ripchord - Lock Up Your DaughtersPossessing what surely must be one of the catchiest riffs of the past year, 'Lock Up Your Daughters (And Throw Away The Key' (to give it its full title, as one should) is the perfect antidote to the migraine inciting new rave 'phenomenon' that has somehow managed to sweep the nation (much like Sunny Delight, everyone thought it was good until it turned out it was full of crap).

In a world where everything seems to come complete with a gimmick, Ripchord are plain and simple, take it or leave it indie popsters, and make no apologies for it. And why should they? It's a neat tune, almost like something you can imagine the Bluetones coming out with - you know, if they hadn't turned shit (or were ever good in the first place).
