The Procession - Don't Let Go / Don't Hesitate (Nude / V2)
3/5

Upon first listening to The Procession, you immediately know what they're about, being as they are purveyors of inoffensive pop music with the slightest of twists. Get us not wrong however, as this ain't necessarily a problem.
Where they differ from some of their MOR peers is in their propensity to divert from the predictable and throw in elements which bring the songs to life. And yes, whilst at times 'Don't Let Go' veers dangerously close to sounding like some of the more undesirable (albeit highly successful) acts who are bothering the charts on a weekly basis, there is always a surprise around the next note that brings things back to more... acceptable ground.
'Don't Hesitate' is a similar affair, on the face of it a nice pop song which all of a sudden springs to life with the kind of piano solo that you'd usually associate with a fairground grab-a-toy machine. Again, there is a slight whiff of the mainstream about it, and that's quite probably where this kind of music belongs, but heck, I'd much rather the kids be listening to this than bands like Orson and co.
Wouldn't you agree?
