Findlay Brown - Come Home (Peacefrog)

3/5

By: Gareth Roberts

Findlay Brown - Come HomeYou may not realise it, but if you own a TV the chances are you'll find this song very familiar. It featured on that Mastercard advert, the one where those people are waiting at arrivals for their loved ones, you know the one, 'ticket from New York: £228' etc etc. until it's 'Christmas with your family: priceless'. All very nice, all very... sickening.

But you know, the man's gotta pay his bills after all I guess. The song itself is perfectly suited to advertising a mass circulation product, it's inoffensive, relatively catchy, and has that harmless feel that when you hear it makes you feel like you're tucked up in bed with a hot water bottle stroking a small bunny rabbit. Whether or not he can go on and do 'a Gonzalez' is the big question, he should, at least it's his own song for God's sake.

So there we have it, price of this single: about two quid. The fortunes that can be garnered by sound-tracking Britain's slide into a bottomless pit of debt: priceless.
