The Maccabees - About Your Dress (Fiction)

4/5

By: Yousif Nur

The Maccabees - About Your DressAt the moment, The Maccabees are as omnipresent as Nike Hi-tops, chequered shirts and New Era caps around the ways of the East End of London. But unlike those three materialistic bullshit-isms, this South London five-piece are a welcome fixture given that they just keep churning out the goods, whetting the appetite for their debut album nicely.

'About Your Dress' follows the same formula we've become accustomed to - jagged abrasiveness, pause with slow melancholic guitar, then repeat. Only, thing is, we can't get enough of it. 'It's just what all young lovers do...' Sorry about that.

Although maybe not as catchy as previous offerings like 'Latchmere' or 'X-Ray', 'About Your Dress' stands strong, and one can only imagine that their potential for producing hits can go undiminished for a long time yet.
