!!! - Heart of Hearts (Warp)

Nu-rave eat your newly and badly named heart out, as !!! are back on the scene to show all you poorly put together synthy-fashion types how it should be done.
Funk appears to have made a comeback, at least through !!!'s eyes and interpretation, and with their new single 'Heart of hearts' and they actually pull it off. This is groove laden, well layered and infectious, so well constructed that every time you listen to it you'll peel away another layer and hear something new, a testament to the band's genius.
The female vocals and bass lines which tie the song together are so retro I can feel the bottoms of my jeans starting to flair and my shirt growing floral patterns just listening to it. !!! have evolved, and are aiming at a wider audience than their previous efforts would ever allow. Though this may upset some old fans, there will be many more, like us, who'll fully embrace the new approach.
We still have hints of the !!! of old, but they've really constructed a piece of forward thinking modern genius with modern hearts. I advise you to put this on loudly at every house party you throw and request every DJ in whatever fashionable clubs you enjoy throwing shapes at to play this masterpiece of a song.
