Busy P - Rainbow Man (Ed Banger)
3/5
By: Keri Kennedy
I have to admit I didn't have the foggiest idea who Busy P or Rainbow Man was when this CD dropped through my letterbox. More fool me eh? Busy P, aka Pierre (or Pedro) Winter, spends his time as manager of one of the most successful French exports Daft Punk. He's also founder of Ed Banger Records - responsible for last summers über anthem; Justice v.s Simian's 'We Are Your Friends'. A man with a finger in a few pies, you could say.
While currently touring his electro offerings around North America, Canada and Europe, he's unleashing this beast of a track over here too. Be warned, 'Rainbow Man' is a thumping, industrial monster that begins all low-fi and very Euro-beat, only to get you one minute in with a grinding bass that turns it into a sleazy, squelching techno anthem.
It's obviously from the same school as Daft Punk, Justice and 2 Many DJ's - I could virtually guarantee this'll be a set favourite. And while I'm not going to pretend 'Rainbow Man' is anything new or groundbreaking, it shan't stop a few people finding themselves punching their fists in the air to this in the early hours this summer.
