Has it really been four years since Jet released 'Get Born'? Time sure does fly when you're constantly bombarded with imitation indie tripe, don't it... Still, at least we can rely on the boys who brought us such classic tracks as 'Are You Gonna Be My Girl' and 'Cold Hard Bitch' to infuse the fun back into the genre with their new single... can't we?
Apparently no. No, no, NO.
The only way one can rationalise a complete and utter horror like 'Shine On' is to entertain the idea that the band went and got a talent lobotomy during their time away from the limelight. Gone are the punchy riffs and instantly recognisable melodies, and in their place we have bland, sub-Arctic Monkeys musing on, god-knows-what... something to do with lights?
Fingers are crossed that they've saved the good stuff for future singles, as this Oasis style power ballad shall set neither charts nor hearts alight.
