The Hours - Love You More (Record Collection) (A&M)

3/5

By: Keri Kennedy

The Hours - Love You More (Record Collection)The Hours' Antony Genn has been around the block a fair bit. A man who's been a member of Elastica and Pulp, lived with Robbie Williams and lost his teeth as a result of a crack habit might have a few topics to write songs about, but he's not necessarily the best candidate to pen a love song.

Declaring 'Love You More' as an "anthemic declaration of passion", it's more of a 'blokes by numbers' track - they've taken all the token elements of a Loaded reader's record collection. There's the Keane / Muse (delete as appropriate) piano intro, a Kasabian / Oasis shouty vocal, plenty of Doves/Hard-Fi guitar riffs and some Killers-infused melodies thrown in for good measure.

It's a no-brainer, with its driving beat and laddish lyrics; "I love you more than my record collection / football team / Adidas trainers... I love you more than you'll ever know", it's the perfect boozy chant along pop song. Expect it to soundtrack a lager advert anytime soon.
