The Rapture - Pieces Of The People We Love (Vertigo)
4/5
By: Keri Kennedy

The Rapture return with their third single and title track from 2006's LP 'Pieces of the People We Love', and it's a whole world away from the previous two floor filler releases.
Mattie Safer again takes over vocal duties - certainly no shrieks or high notes here - on this swing-beat glam stomper, without a cowbell to be heard and an overall lo-fi feel, one could be forgiven for not realising this is The Rapture at all.
With minimal twanging guitars and moog-style keys, the emphasis is on the beat, but the catchy 'na na na na' chorus will at least get some toes tapping. 'Pieces Of The People We Love' as an LP shows the diversity of this band, and this single proves The Rapture aren't bound to creating only party tunes - they can do understated cool, and they can do it pretty damn well.
