'Girl I Used To Know' finds Glaswegian quartet The Needles in full-on glam mode: the chunky guitars and churning keyboards of 'In It For The Money'-era Supergrass colliding with the sugar-rush immediacy and contagious harmonies of classic Weezer, topped off with a longing, Elvis Costello tinge in singer Dave Nixon's vocals.
Sandwiched between that and 'Only If You Want Me To', a ruminative Ben Folds-style ballad, is 'Dead or Alive', three breathless minutes of The Coral-gone-psychobilly lunacy.
